I've been waiting for a comparison of these 2 pickups. Thanks! I'd like to hear more with a different range of styles - not merely VH covers. But thank you very much!
I think the Duncan Custom 5 is pretty close to all things VH. The Custom Custom is pretty neat too and sounds a lot like Fair Warning. I personally love the Custom Custom, but to be all things VH I would drop a Custom 5 in my strat. It has a healthy dose of mids and it’s just a powerful PAF. You can pull harmonics easily and it feels great in my hands. 👍🏼 I like the ‘59 better on this video, it just has a vintage PAF sound and Eddie loved vintage PAFs.
I have Peavey Wolfgang Special and looking to upgrade pickups. I am really enjoying the sound of the '78. The Wolfgang has a basswood body. What is the body material on the guitar you used for your test? I believe that the wood makes a difference, so just want to know what I was listening to. Thank you!
Anyway you can repost this video with the music panned to one side and you to the other? This is just weird and not really giving any real answers. I know others think they can hear this or that, but of course they can't when it's mixed and out of time/sync. It's awesome that you're posting this test(!!), but being able to pan to one side and only hear you playing, and then to the other side and have the reference would be 6000 % better and more useable..
Thanks for your input! It's difficult because the only way to record directly from the camera mic is currently not possible in our environment, but ... I will consider it afterwards!
@@112233yonGooo That would be awesome. Comparison videos like this one would have much value for many of us out here. I'm sure you know how many people claim that X pickups sounds just like Y pickup, and they know for a fact that whoever artist used Z pickup in their guitar, and so on and so on. Guys like you, who actually put their money where their mouth is, make an actual positive difference for many of us. So thanks for your efforts regardlessly!
Great playing. Super close on a nearly impossible to match time feel. The 78 sounds closer to the record.
Thank you for your attention!
I think so!☺
Yeah u might have nailed the swing the best ! Will study this video now lmao

I will continue to challenge various things in the future!
I’ve had a few drinks and I totally hear the 78’
Bottoms Up!
🔥🔥🔥78 Model is the GOAT🔥🔥🔥 =VH= FOREVER
I totally agree!😁
Wow very close comparison to me. I wonder if the comparison could be even closer if the magnet in the 59 was replaced by an A2. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for your attention!
Awesome job. 78’s for the W
I preferred the way the 59 sounded, Thanks for this. I had the 78 in a guitar and it sounded too thin.
Adjust the EQs man I thought I fucked up the wiring or something with my guitar. Messed with some setting and it's perfect now. My 2 cents.
Great playing! The 59, I think, have better presence and clarity.
78 sounds more like it. Great playing
next to the JB the 78 is the best pickup they make
I agree!
Where and what are the specs on this guitar? I love it! Great playing!
Well, f me and call me shirley! Your picking efficiency is mind-blowing. You're swinging that pick like a pencil flourish.
59 sounds better to me, more open and less saturated and gritty than the 78
I see...
It certainly feels that way.

@2216sammysame mids way too scooped. I hear the pearly gates is similar to the 78 maybe going to try that.

It serms sh1 more natural... for classic rock.... may be?😊
Awesome playing! You’re killing it 🔥🎸🔥🤘😈🤘
What’re you using for an amp!? Tone sounds great
Which one did u like the most. I was torn between those 2 and ended up with the 59. What difference did u notice?
私は断トツ 78モデルが気に入りました!
I love the 78 model!
It's so difficult listening to some difference but I think 78 gets more mid-freqs and, for that, a bit more volume. SH-1 is more classic PAF.
